Rotation Spotlight: Smart Grid

Juan, 3rd Rotation IMLPOne of our Energy IMLPs, Juan, worked with the Transmission & Distribution IT team to design and provision the hardware, network, and software to support the first European Smart Grid Demo Lab, a fully featured demonstration room that shows the GE Smart Grid product portfolio. The lab was launched at the end of November 2009.

To enable this demo lab, Juan and the IT team designed a dedicated product network environment that hosts the whole demo. This network interconnects over 20 PC clients, 2 virtualized servers, a virtual center server (for centralized administration) and a shared clustered storage area of 3 Terabytes that is accessed by all the devices present in the room. Remote access is also available so all the teams involved can access and configure their clients and virtual servers remotely.

Click to View GE's Today Advert

What are some of the things people look for when they are job searching?

  • Money
  • Benefits
  • Good Culture
  • Something they want to do
  • Challenging/ Not Boring

But what about working for a company that does good things on a daily basis. I read this GE ad recently after it was sent to me by Josh Perlin and it really made me feel good about the company I work for.

Facebook Page Launch

Today, we are proud to announce the launch of the official IMLP facebook page.  Since Facebook launched its "pages" service last year, we've been excited about expanding our recruiting efforts by getting the word out to a population of over 100 million users. It is our mission to provide all interested undergraduates with an open forum to ask IMLPs and other employees any questions you may have about GE and IMLP.

We want the Facebook page and IMLP blog to work together to provide you with the most complete and first-hand account of what life is truly like during the two years "on program".

We'll be doing our part to continuously upload photos and videos to give you a glimpse of life inside and outside of the office. Please let us know of any specific content you are looking for (ex: more shots of training or charity events) and we will do our best to post it.

If you can, please become a fan of the page. In the near future we will occasionally send out important communications about recruiting events, important deadlines for applications, and any special online events.

One of the greatest features of this blog and the Facebook page, is that it gives you the opportunity to utilize the comments or the discussion board to pose any questions you have about the program. I encourage all of you interested in GE to take advantage of this opportunity and reach out.

Please also check out our on-campus event calendar located at GEcareers.com to see when we'll be visiting your university this recruiting season!

Feel free to leave a comment and let us know what you think.
