UK Technology Infrastructure IMLP Events

http://www.flickr.com/photos/sjdunphy/2914939372/Last month we had the chance to meet face-to-face with our IMLP Champion for Aviation, a CIO from one of our Aviation businesses. He flew from our Headquarters in Cincinnati to the UK to spend some time understanding our processes and initiatives we are running here.

UK Healthcare IMLP's joined us from Amersham for a site tour in our GE Aviation Systems facilities in Bishops Cleeve, Cheltenham. We shared best practices to keep on improving the IMLP in the region and met local leadership to better understand business needs.

After going out around Cheltenham, some of our colleagues were amazed by this town in the heart of the Cotswolds! You can find more information here about Cheltenham and its sorroundings.

Technology Infrastructure IMLPs meet at least quarterly, so we can increase our network and keep on building the talent pipeline in the UK.

IMLPs visit GE Surgical Facility & Hit the Slopes

Healthcare IMLPs Pose on the SlopesA group of IMLPs recently visited the GE Healthcare Surgery facility in Salt Lake City, Utah.  We took a tour of the manufacturing floor featuring the C-arm product and learned about the unique business.

While we were in the area, we also were able to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.  We took a tour of Park City where the Sundance film festival was being held and we skied at a few of the resorts in the area.

It always amazes me to see how GE reaches so many places across the United States and the world.

Product Tour: Healthcare HQ

Recently, a group of IMLPs at GE Healthcare took a tour of Headquarters in Waukesha, WI.

During this tour, we were able to learn about the different products that GE Healthcare sells to hospitals and clinics.  We were able to take a tour of the manufacturing floor where we learned about Six Sigma and Lean principles.

It is always rewarding to learn more about the business as an IMLP.  The program gives us the ability to really grow our knowledge beyond just information technology.

GE's iCare Charity Fundraising

Every year, GE sponsors a United Way Employee Giving Campaign.  The GE family contributed over $31 million to more than 450 United Way organizations, placing GE among the top United Way supporters.

As part of the 2009 GE Foundation Food and Shelter initiative, the GE Foundation increased its contributions from 40% to 50% and allocated its donations solely to food, shelter and basic needs.

Product Tour: Healthcare IT

Recently, I went with a group of Healthcare IMLPs on a tour of the Healthcare IT business in Barrington, Illinois.

GE Healthcare develops software for hospitals and clinics around the world.  This business delivers information at the center of care to help organizations achieve more effective and efficient decisions on behalf of patients and providers.

The software helps improve efficiency and enhance the patient experience. Solutions help drive greater productivity and enhance patient safety with workflows and managing protocols.

I was impressed with how powerful the combination of digitized patient data with computer software can be.  We saw first hand how this advanced technology will literally change how we think about healthcare.

IMLP provides countless opportunities like this and exposes us to some of the most cutting edge technology in the world.
