Most of us in IT at GE Aviation sit in office buildings and cubicles - right next to finance, HR, legal, and other "officey" functions. But there are a select few who work right on the shop floor, amid the sights and sounds of aircraft engine manufacturing. Without these people to implement and support our manufacturing systems, day-to-day operations would grind to a halt.

The CIO of our supply chain organization decided to highlight at his next all-hands meeting the important work these shop floor IT employees do - and he asked the IMLPs to help!

Over the past few weeks we've been compiling questions, interviewing shop floor IT employees, filming, splicing, and editing to create a fun and informative video of what it's like to live "A Day in the Life... of IT on the Shop Floor." Not only are we learning a lot about a specific area of IT at GE, we're also getting to practice some artistic and technical skills we wouldn't normally use...
