An NBCU IMLP @ CES 2010

Just in case you were wondering what CES is, I'll explain. CES, or Consumer Electronics Show, is an annual convention where all sorts of consumer electronics companies come together in Las Vegas to show off all sorts of new gadgetry that we as consumers can expect to see in the coming year.

In order to go to CES, you must be registered under a business related to technology in some way.

For the most part, the registration is easy and free (if done before a specific date). It does take some time, but if you're able to get registered, and you're as big a nerd as me, I highly recommend it.

NBCU had a booth at CES this year, which was fairly decent-sized, set up with an entire recording set in which they broadcasted from earlier in the week, along with a blogging station for you to rest your feet, upload pictures, and of course post on your blog about CES.

Although I was at CES on my own accord, I was also using the time to help look into some emerging technologies that may positively impact my future career at NBC.

More specifically, I was researching emerging 3D technologies. This is not to say NBCU is doing anything in 3D, however, being prepared with a deep understanding of these technologies puts me ahead of the game later on down the road if I work on a rotation dealing with 3D.

Besides, how awesome is researching Left 4 Dead 2 in 3D on a 65" HD TV?

Aww mane researching 3D technologies does sound interesting. I also hope to one day attend CES!
