IMLP Q&A
May 22, 2009
In the spirit of making this blog an interactive platform for getting information about the IMLP program at GE, we want to know: what questions do you have about IMLP?
Do you want to know about the kinds of work we do on our rotations? What our relocation policies are? What's up with this "bootcamp" you keep hearing about? Maybe you're wondering what kind of majors we had in college or what kinds of candidates we look for? The work culture at GE and what our daily life is like on program?
Whatever questions you may have, please submit them as a comment to this post. We'll answer all of your questions in a future blog post, so make sure to check back soon for the answers!

How hard is it to transition from college to IMLP and corporate life in general?
Hi, I will be joining the IMLP programme in India. I would like to know what is that is expected of us in the rotations and how do we decide our rotations? Also, what is the purpose of a barcamp?
I am graduating soon with a MS and have relevant working experience in IT and Information Management as well. I am strongly confident that being a GE IMLP would further my career goals like no other opportunity would and am really excited at the challenges and learning opportunities the experience will provide.
I guess my question is, being that the program is primarily geared towards undergraduates, should I still apply even though I am a graduate student?
I forgot to mention, I almost immediately entered grad school upon finishing undergrad. So I do fit the 20-something profile :)
I'm a recent college graduate interested in applying for IMLP in the fall. I majored in mathematics and computer science at the State University of New York at Potsdam and I am really curious as to what majors people in the program had, as well as what the IMLP program looks for in a candidate. Thanks in advance for all of your insight!

Is IMLP only open to recent graduates or can experienced professionals also apply? I have 5 years experience in I.T for Banking but recently completed an MSc in Computer Graphics & Image Processing in an attempt to change my career direction. The IMLP would provide me with an excellent opportunity for a fresh start. I'm in my mid 30s.
