HealthAhead Day at GE

I got an email yesterday from one of the GE Capital IMLP program representatives that Oct. 27th would be considered a dress down day for those participating in HealthAhead day.

I began thinking what in the world is HealthAhead... do I have to eat granola for lunch?

I finaly decided that I didn't care so long as I could wear a pair of chuck taylors, jeans, and a warm sweater instead of the usual button down.

During lunch, I went downstairs to grab some food and to my surprise there were over 10 tables with different booths set up. They were offering ergonomics information, chair massages, skin analysis, body fat analysis and so much more.

I am a big fan of freebies so I tried to stop at every table, although, they laughed at me at the mobile mammography table and I decided to skip the prostate exam (I'll wait until I'm over 35. thank you very much). I even got my cholesterol/glucose/blood pressure tested (I'm down by 30 on my cholesterol ... thanks fish oil).

Ok... so GE had a health day... so what?

It is great that GE is invested in its employees health and coming up with new ways to be proactive in preventative health. I like knowing I am working for a company that wants me to be healthy.
